Delete your account
Deleting your account permanently removes all of your personal data and abandons your empire to its own people. Two ways to do it, both permanent. No forms, no retention offers, no waiting on hold.
In the game — the quickest way
- Open Astral Sovereignty (the app, or play.astralsovereignty.com) and sign in.
- Go to the More tab, and in the Account card tap Delete account…
- Type DELETE to confirm. Deletion starts immediately and you are signed out everywhere.
By email — if you cannot sign in
- Email [email protected] with the subject “Delete my account”.
- Send it from the email address your account uses — that is how we know the request is really yours. There are no passwords to confirm.
What is deleted
- Your email address, account name, sign-in codes and every session, on every device.
- Your Google identity and your link to Discord. The Discord record that stays for a while is under "Chat and Discord" below.
- Your support tickets and correspondence, notification preferences, push subscriptions and app device tokens.
- Your private map notes, your fleet and ship-design tags, and the empire bio you wrote.
- Your profile picture, and every emblem, portrait or other picture that only you used.
- The notes you wrote about other empires, the text of any question you asked VEGA, your hail messages to computer-run empires and their replies, and the stored text of any content check on your names, bio or pictures.
- The text of every chat line and direct message you wrote, and your identity on them. An anonymous "removed" marker stays until each line's own time is up. In a direct-message conversation the other person keeps their own lines; other people's lines stay until they expire, even if they mention you.
- Your VEGA conversations, your call sign and its reservations, your chat settings, blocks, room memberships and invitations. A custom room you own passes to its longest-serving eligible moderator, or closes if there is none.
- Your empire's name — everywhere. It is rewritten to the new name wherever other players' reports and notes quoted it.
- Anything in the account audit trail that identifies you.
What remains, and why
The galaxy is one shared world that every other player has acted in, and under our Rules of Play the map is never edited on any one player's behalf — deleting an empire would hand its neighbours free territory and erase the history of everyone who dealt with it. So your empire is abandoned, not deleted:
- Its citizens take over. The empire gets a new, system-generated name and is run from then on by the same computer players that run every other non-player empire, under the same rules and costs as everyone. Other players are told a people have risen; they are not told who left.
- Its colonies, fleets, ship designs and battle history stay where they were, as anonymous game records. The names you gave colonies, fleets and designs remain part of the map; they are not linked to you. If one identifies you, email us and we will rename it. Its built-in catalog emblem, flag and portrait stay; a picture you uploaded for it does not. If you set your alliance's crest, the crest stays with the alliance, no longer linked to you.
Apart from the Discord record below, nothing that remains can be linked to you by us or by anyone else. A few anonymous records expire on their own schedule: VEGA cost lines and content-check lines after 90 days, a picture a moderator took down for breaking the rules after 30 days, and report cases emptied of their content 180 days after they were filed. The privacy policy lists them.
Chat and Discord
- Copies already on Discord. Universe and galaxy lines are copied to our Discord server. Deletion asks Discord to remove every copy we hold a record of, and any private VEGA thread bound to your account. If Discord does not accept a removal we retry for 7 days and alert our staff; after that a copy can stay until staff remove it by hand or Discord does. If you find one, email us the link and we will remove it. We cannot recall what people have read, quoted or screenshotted, the records Discord keeps for itself, or a copy in our Discord server's staff logs, which can record a member's message when it is edited or deleted.
- Your Discord user ID. It stays on one internal record, no longer tied to your account, until 90 days after you last used the chat bridge.
- Lines posted before you linked. Lines you posted from Discord before linking your account, and VEGA threads you opened before linking, are tied to your Discord record, so deleting the account does not reach them. They expire on their usual schedule (7 and 30 days).
- Active restrictions. If you are muted or banned from chat when you delete, the restriction stays until it ends and for 180 days after, or until it is lifted if it is permanent, on an internal identifier with no login details or content, so that deleting cannot be used to escape it.
- No account, or only your Discord data? On our Discord server, /chat-delete-data erases the lines you posted from Discord and your VEGA conversations there, and asks Discord to remove those messages, with the same 7-day limit. It does not delete an account here, lift a restriction or reset an allowance, and your Discord user ID stays on that record for 90 days after you run it.
Timing and the fine print
- Deletion is complete within 30 days of your request, and usually within the hour: the personal data goes at once, and the empire is handed over at the next game tick. An emailed request gets a confirmation reply when it is done.
- Rolling database backups expire within a further 14 days (7 days for the off-site copy) and are never used to restore a deleted account.
- OpenAI and Anthropic, which check names, pictures and chat messages and write VEGA's answers, may keep their own short-lived records of what they received under their API terms; deleting your account here cannot reach those.
- Deletion is permanent. Your email address is released and can be used for a new account, which starts from nothing, like everyone else.
